    Real waves? Rarely. And small.

After a day of strong north west wind, the west coast near Dukhan can show short, weak wind swell. Worth a look if you live here and watch the forecast. Not a reason to fly in.

    Never stood on a board?

Three steps. No gear to buy.

    1. Try a pool

Book 30 to 60 minutes on a simulator. Boards and gear are included. You will fall. Everyone does.

    2. Take one lesson

A coach for one session saves you weeks. Qwave sells private packs. Banana Island and Aloha have instructors on the lane.
